Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Thumb

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Feb 2016
Question: I wrote some time ago about my thumb nail separating from the bed. I got an answer and also visited my family doctor... He suggested that I just wait until the nail comes off. I am not experiencing any pain, just an uneasiness, like it is floating. I can see more space there than under my other one. I was wondering if there would be any harm or advantage of soaking it in coconut oil? Thanks, XXXXXXX Axxxxx

Brief Answer:
Avoid dipping in coconut oil

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Dipping in coconut oil is not a good idea.
It might lead to infection.
It would be better if you just apply an antiseptic cream around the nail.
The more drier you keep the faster will be separation of nail.
If possible upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in providing a better way of management.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
