default
Posted on Mon, 22 May 2017
Question: I was on the excercise ball doing sit ups. I was going to get off it, the ball slipped and I fell flat on my butt. It hurts like hell. I am icing it now. Do I need to go to get X-rays down? What should I expect for damages?
Thank u

Brief Answer:
Icing, mediation, Xray

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

There's could be a small collection of blood in your buttocks called a haematoma.

Icing will help. Take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days and Tablet Rabeprazole twice a day before meals for 5 days. This will help with the pain.

If you have pain on bending forward or sitting, do get an Xray of the lumbosacral spine, coccyx and pelvis.

Rarely a fracture could have taken place but as long as you are moving about it's unlikely.
I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX
I am able to walk but a little harder to bend or sit. How can I know if there was a collection of blood in the buttocks area?
I will start on ibuprofen although the pain is tolerable. Do I need a prescription of Rabrepazole?
Should there be a small fracture, I wouldn't be able to walk correct?
Does a fall like this causes serious pain or damage later on in life?in the back or the coccyx area?
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Fracture can be severely painful on contact. Rabeprazole available over the counter. Coccydynia can occur in damage to the coccyx.

Detailed Answer:

Usually fracture can cause severe pain on walking or sitting. It is evident within 5 days of trauma. You don't need a prescription for Rabeprazole as it is available over the counter but it's essential to prevent acidity while you are on Brufen. The blood collection will feel firm and insisted in the buttock region. Chronic complications of a damaged coccyx can cause Coccydynia which is pain in sitting for long time or bending forwards.
