Suggest Treatment For Severe Knee Pain Caused By Arthritis

Question: There is pain in a band across the upper front of my knee. It is severe enough when it first hits I can not put weight on it. After Aleve has time to work it reduces the pain but the tightness continues and some though greatly reduced discomfort. What do you think is the source of pain?

Brief Answer:
Knee arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

It is possible you have arthritis and degenerative changes in your knees.

Apply hot packs to the affected region. Take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days and Tablet Ranitidine 150mg twice a day for 5 days. Get an Xray of the knee to confirm arthritis. Avoid squatting, cross leg sitting, climbing stairs, kneeling.

Do review with me with the Xray and your progress.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Regards,

Dr. Aashish Raghu
