Brief Answer:
You are likely suffering from acute sinusitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, it seems as if you are suffering from an episode of acute sinusitis. Though other possibilities should also be kept in mind. It is better to start with an Xray Paranasal sinuses alongwith blood screens like complete blood count so that WBC count and other signs of infection can be confirmed. A sputum culture if you become able to expectorate or else you would need saline neubilisations to be able to produce some sputum for the cultures collection.

That can help to identify the exact bug and which antibiotic it is sensitive to. A chest Xray to rule out lower respiratory tract infection should also be done.

Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen and anti histamines like cetrizine or loratidine will help with pains, temperature, stuffiness and other symptoms. Using steam inhalations will also be helpful. The choice of antibiotics should ideally be made on cultures reports but prophylacticly it can be started sooner than that. Antibiotics like augmentin or azithromycin will be better to start with.

If these infections are coming repeatedly you can have a detailed ENT examination to rule out any precipitating factor like a deviated nasal septum or allergic causes. Hopefully you will be better in a matter of days. Don't forget to use steam inhalations and gargles with saline water as these measures can be extremely helpful. Avoid oily and sour foods and direct exposure to cold.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
