Question: Dear Sir/Mam
I am experiencing severe hair fall since some days in the Front side. To be precise, it's after marriage I started experiencing it. I have been going through extreme stress as there were few personal issues with my partner. I also used to drink alcohol everyday for almost 3 months after September 2016. I am suffering sleeplessness and stress now also. It's not that this is the first time I am going through stress in my life, there were many instances equal to or may be much worst than current situation, but I never experienced any such problem. Please advice me the steps need to be taken to avoid or reduce hairfall.
-I am 30yrs old now.
-I use Dove Nourishing Oil care.
-I rarely apply Oil to my hair.
-I don't apply hair gels.
-I wash my hair once in 2days with shampoo and filtered drinking water since years
-I could see a lot of Dandruff now at this point of time.

Please help me bring this situation under control and advice me of proper shampoo and Diet. Looking forward to hear from you. Thank you very much !

Regards

Brief Answer:
Androgenetic alopecia

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist).
I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern.
You seem to have androgenetic alopecia which is chatacterized by hair loss and thinning from the front, mid and vertex portions of the scalp. In addition there may also be recession of anterior hair line.
Minoxidil topical (Mintop forte) and finasteride oral (propecia) are FDA approved medications for androgenetic alopecia. Minoxidil is to be applied twice daily on scalp.
In addition you may use an antidandruff shampoo e.g scalpe shampoo.

Dear Sir

Thank you very much for taking your valuable time and responding to my query. I would like to know if there are any natural remedies I can rely on to retain the existing hair, like: applying coconut oil daily, diet that's good for hair etc. I can see the M shape in the from now which has just started maybe. I want to take very good care to avoid any more hair loss from now on. Please advice.

Thanks in advance !

Brief Answer:
Minoxidil solution and finasteride

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Natural remedies like coconut oil wont help in androgenetic alopecia. Moreover you will have to stop using oil if your are using minoxidil as it has to applied on dry and clean scalp. Also androgenetic alopecia is not due to any dietary deficiency so if you are already taking a good diet like others in your family i would not suggest any dietary changes. Minoxidil 5% solution and tab finasteride 1mg are FDA approved medications. The goal of medical treatment is to arrest or slow down further progression of alopecia. Earlier the treatment is initiated the better it is.
