default
Posted on Fri, 20 Jan 2017
Question: I live in ND, 46 year old male. I seem to be struggling with fatigue. Force myself to stay awake and go to bed at normal time...around 10pm but can fall asleep any time. Also have a throbbing pain in my elbow. Not on the cap but feels like some kind of muscle pain. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Possible diagnoses and recommendations

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

About the fatigue here ate my recommendations :
-- You need to check yourself for anemia (by doing a Complete blood count) and for hypothyroidism (by doing a TSH). These are the most common causes of fatigue.
-- If you are obese, you should may have sleep apnea, which means that you basically don't sleep during night so thats why you feel like sleeping anytime. If you sleep with someone else, they tell you if you snore a lot or if your breathing stops around 30 sec during your sleep. There are tests which can diagnose that.

About your elbow, an orthopedist exam would rule out a lot. For now take Ibuprofen 400 mg every 6 hours so it will relive the pain and decrease the inflammation. An x-ray will diagnose if it is an osteoarthritis or other. But as I said, an orthopedist will know what to recommend when they will examine you.

Hope this is helpful.
