Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea

default
Posted on Mon, 31 Aug 2015
Question: I had diarrhea for 3 days immediately following anything I ate. On the 4th day I became constipated with horrible stomach pains. I also had nausea, gas, and was extremely fatigue, with a body temp at 96.9 when my norm has always been 98.6. Today is day 5 and I felt perfect all day long. However a few hours ago I had diarrhea again and am now shaking to pieces with a temp at 95.9 despite having sweat pants and a hoodie on. I've never had a temp go down before, I usually always spike high. Is this normal or should I go get checked out?

Brief Answer:
These symptoms could be because of dehydration.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thankyou for your Question.

Since, there can be many factors, which can cause diarrhea. Apart from eating out or unhygienic food,it can be caused by contaminated water, and travelling out.

As post loose motions, intestine wall (epithelium) gets little bit damaged, thats why for some days, it can cause malabsorption, in form of gas, nausea, stomach pain and loose motions after having food alternating with constipation.

As because of loose motions, with loss of water and essential electrolytes (dehydration), low temperature and sweating can happen.

I would like to know, whether you have got sunken eyes,or decreased frequency of urination and increased thirst. As these all symptoms can also happen because of decreased water intake with increased water loss. So it may need drinking plenty of water or may need oral rehydration solution.

I would suggest get a stool test done for ruling out parasitic oocysts or bacterial infection. Even some time these symptoms can be caused because of viral gastroentritis with which stool test may come normal. But at least to be sure, better you get stool test done first and follow accordingly . .I would also suggest that take light food like soft rice and vegetable soup, and take good hygienic measures. Surely it will be helpful. But if your symptoms continue , inspite of taking these measures, then you may need to get evaluated by physician in person. Or you may discuss further here also.

Hopefully my answer will be helpful for you.Do not hesitate to ask further ,if you have more questions to ask.
