Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea, Nausea, Hot Flashes And Chills

default

Question: Hi, Dr. I'll give you some detail as I'm sure it can only help. Up until about 6 months ago, I was able to consume caffeine if I was prepared to have mild diarrhoea immediately afterwards (I have apparently had IBS for years). I suddenly developed a severe intolerance wherein I am violently ill after even 1 cup of coffee, sometimes for days afterwards. I feel like I have been poisoned and have the most indescribably severe nausea and awful fluish feeling throughout my body. I experience chills and hot flashes. I will have my head in the toilet for hours as I feel like I am constantly about to vomit but never do. Symptoms are made worse by movement so I need to rest completely still for at least 12 hours before it begins to subside. Since cutting out caffeine, I still regularly experience these symptoms on a mild-moderate scale where I am unable to get out of bed and occasionally have the same reaction that has me literally begging for death. A colonoscopy has showed nothing. The only experience that I have ever been able to relate it to is that of a candida die-off and I have had an intestinal candida infection in the past as well as recurrent yeast infections to this day despite having it treated, however this has been a chronic issue that doesn't seem to be improved regardless of what, or even if, I eat. All I know is, consuming caffeine and some alcohol is guaranteed to make me sick.
Please help me find some direction as I'm sick of being told that this is "just IBS" and truly feel that I can't go on like this much longer.
Thank you
doctor

Brief Answer:
Caffeine allergy.....

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
2.You are reporting to have been sick after using coffee. Your symptoms may be related with :
- caffeine allergy
- caffeine intolerance / hypersensitivity.
It's well known that caffeine may aggravate the symptoms of IBS but at your case the symptoms are severe and suggestive for an caffeine allergy or hypersensitivity.
3. With regards to the fact that you still feel these mild symptoms , to my opinion it may be related with:
- caffeine but in small doses in other drinks or foods like Tea, chocolate or other drinks
- candida overgrowth or gut bacterial flora misbalance ( due to diarrhea)
- gastritis.
At your case I suggest to do :
- stool test for candida infection
- upper endoscopy.
Meantime I recommend to :
- avoid all foods or drinks, deserts reached in caffeine
- use plenty of water
- use probiotics
- use antacids and Prilosec OTC
- avoid alcohol
- increase physical activity
- avoid unnecessary stress
Hope it was helpful to you
