Question: dr XXXXXXX my 13 year old has not had a history of this happening and no asthma in her family, she does have a slight cough which started today

Looks like an acute episode of allergic bronchitis - she needs medication

Detailed Answer:
Hi...I understand your concern. By what you quote I feel that your daughter is going a starting stage of allergic bronchitis.

My suggestions -

1. She needs to checked if she has got wheeze by a physician or pediatrician. If wheezing is there then she will require appropriate medications for it like Salbutamol or Levosalbutamol.

2. If she settles with this - then fair and good. If she doesn't settle with the above said medications then she might require a short course of oral steroids.

All the above are prescription medicines and you will require one for it.
