Suggest Treatment For Severe Constipation
Question: I have severe constipation, quite backed up, had xray yesterday to confirm this
. They gave me a fleet enema to use at home, was not very successful. Have tried a ducolax suppository this morning and the 2 soflax capsules, still no luck, any further suggestions for me. Have never suffered with this problem before but am taking Limotragine and think this could be the cause.

Thankyou for the information regarding lamotrigine, I do take it for mild seizures. It was really helpful as I was only guessing it was that medication causing the problem. I will consult my specialist.
However, can you suggest what else I can do to alleviate the current severely backed up constipation problem.
How soon can I use another ducolax suppository ? I used one at 9am this morning. It really was not very effective, would an oral laxative be better ?

You can also get DULCOLAX oral tablets, and I would recommend the following routine to start with:
+ 1 coated oral tablet in the morning, and 1 coated oral tablet in the evening with 2 suppository in the evening
This regimen should help alleviate your symptoms. But I would not like to interfere with your personal doctors regimen either, so please do take his/her permission before doing so. If you still do not experience a bowel movement after this, then write to me and we shall see what we can do next.
However, I would like to emphasise on my previous statement. We need to treat the cause. If you have a thorn stuck in your foot, we do not advise you to take pain killers and treat the pain, instead we advise you to remove the thorn; the situation is similar.
