Brief Answer:
It can be cervical spondylitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have studied your case and I think that you might be having cervical spondylitis. This is compression of the nerve in the neck causing pain which can radiate from neck to hand. But before I advise any investigation I want to know little detail about your illness.
1. Since when you are having these symptoms?
2. Are you having Diabetes or thyroid problem or any other medical illness?
3. Have you done any investigations like x ray or MRI?
Please send me answers of these questions. I will try my best to help you.
thanks.

The burning in my neck happens usually when im driving or sitting in front of my computer. the numbness in my fingers is pretty much all the time. this has been going on for months, maybe 1 1/2 years. the weird feeling in my face is just today. I dont know of any medical illnesses. i have not had any x rays or MRI

Brief Answer:
You need a MRI to confirm the diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Activities which you are describing increases compression of the nerve in the neck.I would suggest you following.
1. Avoid keeping neck in same position for long time.
2. Avid jerky activities.
3. Avoid using very high pillow.
4. Meet a physio and start neck muscle strengthening and intermittent cervical traction exercises.
5.MRI may be helpful to confirm the diagnosis.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you. Let me know if you want to ask any other followup questions.
Thanks
