Question: I was in a car accident yesterday and today my left side and back is hurting really bad, I am snowed in and can't go to a doctor what can I do

Sorry to hear about the accident.

It would be best of course if you can get to a doctor/clinic where they can do X-rays if necessary.

It looks like you are already taking ibuprofen and acetaminophen.

My guess, without examining you, is that you are having muscle spasms. Heat, or moist heat may help with that.

If there are areas that are strained, applying cold would be the thing, such as to a leg or shoulder strain, but with backs, severe pain is often due to muscle spasms, so use heat.

There isn't a lot else that I can recommend until your injuries are evaluated.

One other thing: with ibuprofen, if you have normal kidney function and don't have stomach problems (such as history of ulcers or bleeding), then you can increase the ibuprofen to 600 mg per day. But be sure to have food in your stomach before taking this.

I hope you are able to get to an urgent care soon.
