Brief Answer:
You may be having disc prolapse of lumbar spine.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

After going through your query I suspect that you may be having disc prolapse in the lumbar spine region as you are having severe pain on walking and numbness in legs and it is common cause of backache in your age. It can be confirmed by MRI of lumbar spine. MRI also exclude other causes of backache.

Primary treatment of lumbar disc prolapse is rest in comfortable position which is lateral position with both hips and knees flexed. Analgesic such as ibuprofen is given for pain relief. Muscle relaxant such as thiocholchoside is of help. Neurotrophic agents such as Mecobalamine help in reducing numbness.

You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to me. I will be happy to help.

Wishing you a good health.

Take care.

Rest, analgesic and Mecobalamine will be of help

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back

You may be right if you have pain only during walking and not having muscle spasm then muscle relaxant may not be of help. Then rest, analgesic such as ibuprofen and Mecobalamine will be of help. Rest in comfortable position is important part of treatment. Sometimes if pain is not relieved by ibuprofen then strong analgesic such as tramadol can be taken. Other matters has been already discussed. You can discuss about your Doctor about it.
