Question: I need to find a doctor who can assist me in dealing with a high level of anxiety. I am a retail business manager in charge of 10 locations and have a very busy active job. The problem is I get to worrying about 1 item intensely and I many times forget a list of items I need to focus on in any given day, and it many times results in me having to revisit locations to perform duties or tasks that I should have taken care of the first visit.

Brief Answer:
This could be due to anxiety.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your problem. You have mentioned that you get worried about even one thing intensely. Then some times you have to revisit the locations to perform duties or tasks that you should have taken care of first visit.

This could be occurring due to poor focus and that is seen commonly in anxiety and mild depression.

Other possibility is also anxiety. But in that case the symptomatology is different. Do you have problem of repeating the tasks or things. Like even if you know that you finished a particular task even then you have thoughts in mind that you haven't finished the task and this results in distress. Out of that distress you have to check the location for that tasks. This might be due to obsessive thoughts.

The poor focus is due to anxiety. Low doses of SSRI drugs like Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Escitalopram etc can be used to improve the symptoms and will help in focus. But before starting medicines you should include some dietary changes like taking high protein and low fat diet, taking diets rich in vitamin B12 supplements like milk, curd, animal foods etc, taking diet rich in Omega 3 fatty acids like walnuts, salmon or sardine fish etc. This will help to improve your mood and functioning.

If symptoms persist then visit a psychiatrist for help.

Thanks and Take care
