Suggest Treatment For Sciatica Pain And Hiatus Hernia

Question: My HMO changes my docs so they tend to think I'm an idiot & I am confident they think in cliches that can be absurd for instance after a series of frightening attacks it was suggested nothing was wrong & I needed to exercise & lose weight. Curiously I was losing weight rapidly & I have sciatica & preparing for an angioplasty thru my wrist since a pulse cannot be located in my groin. An ultrasound test supposedly proved I did not have pancreatitis, gall stones or an ulcer. I dismissed pancreatitis bec I had a history & the pain was not severe enough & my glucose was low. Once these were eliminated I believed a hernia of the esophagus was causing the pain which in turn caused angina. HMO denies many meds that work and do not replace or use ineffective ones or require patients to pay. The one for the hiatic hernia cost $241. I decided to use a OTC med & double it since it worked long ago. Tonight I find the pain is now gone but the roaring and dizziness comes at night throughout the late hours. & if I walk I feel I can't breath like I have ran a mile. I am frightened to have the angioplasty because my bypasses collapsed & efforts to open them to place stents caused me to code. Both groin and elbow methods were used. I fear my life will be in danger. & the cardiologist just assured me he's done this lots. Naturally the older more experienced docs who ran into trouble also had been successful most of the time. There is a fluttering sensation which may be in the stomach area or heart I can not distinguish. What in the heck is going on? I am an educated intelligent woman but medicine is not my forte. I research for my family on the internet

Brief Answer:
UGIE and 2D echo are needed to confirm findings.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I understand your concern.

I have gone through your query in detail.

Your symptoms are significant for a thorough evaluation.

Hiatus hernia of the esophageal orifice is more likely be the cause of your chest discomfort. This needs an upper GI endoscopy/UGIE to assess the severity.

Additional the dizziness, roaring in the late hours could be secondary to valvular stenosis in the heart. This needs an early 2D echo scan of the heart to rule out Aortic stenosis.

Further management is based on the test results.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
