Suggest Treatment For Scabies
oral antihistamine and topical steroid may help
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
Scabies can sometimes be difficult to treat. In addition, it can be resistant to some methods of treatment.
The treatment of choice is permethrin 5% lotion which is then reapplied in 7 days. It should be applied over the entire body, left for 8 to 12 hours then rinsed.
Alternative treatment options are lindane, ivermectin, crotamiton, precipitated sulphur 6% in petrolatum.
The itching can be treated with oral antihistamines such as benadryl, atarax, periactin, claritin. If the itching is very severe and the oral antihistamines are not helpful, you may need a short course of topical or oral steroids. The itching can actually continue up to a month even after the treatment for the scabies has been successful.
You may want to consider one of these antihistamines along with a topical steroid to help with your itching.
In addition, your bedding, clothing, towels and those of your household or contacts should be washed in hot water and dried on hot in the dryer.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
