Question: Mainly when I'm resting it feels like my heart stops I gasp for air and my body actually jumps. It's not all the time but at least a few times a week

Brief Answer: Get a cardiologist consultation Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX, Hope you are in good health. You might be getting ectopic beats intermittently. Those are the beats which interrupt the normal beats. Increased frequency of ectopics may cause rythm disturbances and sometimes may cause bradycardia (low heart rate) As you have a family history of cardiac electrical disturbance (which is typically treated with a pace maker), i would recommend to get a cardiologist consultation, who will order a holter monitor to see what is causing you to choke intermittently.
