Question: I went to doctor 15 days ago with sour throat around inside by ear area but had no ear ache more of ear congestion and sinus congestion. Stared out coughing all night for 2 week to where my ribs felt sour because of all the clear drainage then turn into thick like paste drainage and not being able to smell or taste. I know it maybe sinus infection but I have no pain. my throat don't hurt any more but its like the area from inside ears down throat and behind neck from ears down feel congested. have no chest congestion either I roll my head around and feel like its just full. I've taking claritin, sudifed, advil congestion they don't work help this sucks I feel like someones got there hand around my throat

Brief Answer:
Sinusitis and blocked auditory tube is a possibility.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to sinusitis and blockage of auditory tube. This can give rise to middle ear infection if you don't treat at time. Sinusitis itself can give heaviness of head.

Excessive use of nasal decongestant is not advisable. You are taking sudafed and advil congestion both has decongestants. Excess decongestants can cause condition called rhinitis medicamentosa. So better avoid such combination.

It is better to have an examination with an ENT specialist to confirm the condition. Proper antibiotic therapy will be required. In such case i would prefer antibiotic like Co-amoxiclav. Saline nasal drops or drops with decongestants like xylometazoline can be used under your doctors advise. You can take chewable vitamin C which will help in early recovery. Taking warm chicken soup and tea with lemon will be helpful. You can also take steam inhalation.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
