Suggest Treatment For Redness, Swelling And Itching On Outer Ear

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jun 2016
Question: Hello, yesterday my left outer ear began to itch, with a slight redness and minor swelling. This morning, in the spot where the itching occurred, there was a rather larger blister. The itch seems to have intensified as well. I'm including a picture of the area, however the blister did break open while showering. After toweling off, I applied a small dab of neosporin to the area. The itch still persist, rather strongly.

Brief Answer:
Either insect bite reaction or irritant dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photograph and it seems to be either insect bite reaction or irritant dermatitis.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend recommend you to apply steroid antibiotic combinations like mometasone and fusidic acid cream on the affected areas twice daily along with antihistaminic like tablet Loratidine 10 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
This will usually resolve the problem in 5-7 days.
These creams are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
