Suggest Treatment For Red Bumps On The Penis Head

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Jun 2015
Question: Hi I have small red bumps on the head of my penis. They are very small not even really noticeable except under the head they're a bit bigger. They don't hurt or itch or anything and have been there for as long as I can remember. I want to become sexually active but want these embarrassing spots gone. Any idea what it is... I can't find anything that looks like it when I search the web.

Brief Answer:
they are probably "pearly penile papules", please upload clear photographs

Detailed Answer:
Hello Young man,

Thanks for writing to us.

I can understand your concern.

You have non itchy, painless, very tiny red bumps on head of penis since long. Probably they are "pearly penile papules". They are small protuberances that may form on the ridge of the glans of the human penis. They are a harmless anatomical variation.

No need to worry if they are there. You can have normal sex life with that.

For clear comments and answer I need more information from your side.

- First of all please upload clear photographs of penis in which I can see those bumps.

- Do you have any burning or difficulty in urinating?

- You mentioned that you want to become active sexually. This means you are still not exposed to sex. But still I want to confirm that there is no unsafe(without condom) sexual exposure.

- Do you masturbate? If yes is there any problem in masturbation?

Waiting for your reply to help you further.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.

No burning when urinating usually. No sexual contact at all. I do masturbate but no clear issues.

Brief Answer:
They are penile sebaceous glands(Fordyce spots) likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up and image. Sorry for delayed response.

From you history and image(though it is not quite clear) it seems that bumps are penile sebaceous glands(Fordyce spots of penis) likely.

These are tiny spots, found on the head of the penis or the shaft. They are normal. They’re minute sebaceous glands and are just part of the natural structure of many penises. It does not require any treatment.

Rare possibility of septic spots(like pimples) is there if they are increasing in size or discharge from them. If there is nothing like, no need to worry.

Hope I have answered your concern. Feel free to discuss further.

Brief Answer:
yes they are Fordyce spots

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for clear image.

Yes they are fordyce spots.Only 2 big spots on head of penis need to be examined for confirmation if they change in size(increase), itch or discharge.Probably few spots have combined and made bigger bumps.

No need to worry. You can become sexually active without any problem.

If you want to remove the same for cosmetic purpose, you can visit dermatologist and discuss about removal with laser therapy.

All the best.
