Suggest Treatment For Red And Swollen Eye

Question: Hi I believe I have had an allergic reaction in my eyes by accidentally making contact with my eyes after handling a salon pas. My eyes became swollen and red. It is lessening now. I was wondering if the eyes can react this way when exposed to menthol, camphor or methyl salicyclate, the three ingredients in salon pas patches

The problem you are having is called conjunctivitis. Most likely its either bacterial or allergic in your case.I suggest to wash his eyes three times a day with cold water.Prevent him from rubbing eyes with your hands and try not to touch eyes ,as infection could transfer from one eye to other.
Ask your opthalmologist to start you on-
eye drop Moxifloxacin 2-2-2 (2 drop thrice daily).
Eye drop flurbiprofen 2-2-2(Analgesic)
Eye drop Carbinoxamine 2-2-2(antihistaminic)
Apart from that oral medicines should be started,
Tab Fexofenadine 120mg once
Tab Cefixime (As adviced by treating doctor)A swab of eye should be taken to rule out if its bacterial or allergic.Please consult your ophthalmologist and discuss the option of above mentioned medicines.

Doctor, it was not conjunctivitis. the doctor said it was an allergic reaction. I took prednisone, then when it happened again I think I was reacting to something in the salon pas patch. So my question is can either menthol, camphor or methyl salicylate the ingredient in the Salon Pas cause any damage when they come in contact with the eye

Yes, as per your query any external agent can cause irritation to the corneal layer of eye.
Please avoid direct contact of eye with Salon Pas. Most likely you are allergic to the ingredients.
