Suggest Treatment For Recurring Testicular Infection

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Jul 2015
Question: Seen by urologist and been declined prostrate operation due to poor general health and memory problems. Had continual bladder bleeding via indwelling catheter for 1year following urine retention. Testicular infection recurring. Offensive penile discharge. I want Gp to tell if bladder or penile cancer. Can handle the truth but they will not confirm or deny. This is causing unnecessary mental stress. I know the end is close so why not put me out of torment. Is cancer likely and why not tell me?

Brief Answer:
You have bleeding due to Catheter Cystitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query.
I have gone through your problems and history of various illness that you have faced .

You have been diagnosed to have enlarged prostate and have been refused surgery on grounds of major illness and being unfit to undergo major surgery.

You have been on self retaining per urethral catheter since one year and have bleeding through catheter frequently.

The bleeding that you have is due to infection of the bladder secondary to catheter what is called as Catheter Cystitis.

This is known complication of long term per urethral catheter in place .

I would suggest you to put catheter through Supra pubic route (SPC) to drain out bladder This has added advantage of avoiding irritation of delicate urethra and helps to achieve effective drainage of the bladder.

You can change the catheter at home every 3-4 months and will have free mobilization .

The bleeding that you have is not due to cancer or any other pathology. This can be confirmed or ruled out by doing ultrasound Scanning of the abdomen and pelvis.

Get your urine culture done and take appropriate antibiotics.

Ensure too drink more water.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask me I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
