Brief Answer:
seems to besinusitis/acid reflux

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having recurrent episodes of throat pain. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any nasal obstruction or head-ache ?
Is your throat pain associated with dry cough or belching ?

Kindly get back to me with the details.

Based on your clinical details, it (sore throat) occurs to be due to sinusitis or acid reflux.

Sinusitis, with it's post nasal drip (sinus secretions can trickle back into throat, can cause pharyngitis (sore throat).

I suggest you to consult ent surgeon, give detailed history (belching, burning sensation in chest),ent examination (sinusitis, allergic rhinitis), if necessary laryngoscopy (to see deeper part of throat and voice box). Treatment can be started as per the findings.

Mean time, start simple salt water gargling and anti allergic medication like tab.citrizine 10mg one tab at bed time for couple of days (over the counter).

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Evaluation from gastroenterologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

Prescription of both the ENT surgeons are similar, containing PPI inhibitors, multivitamins and anti allergic medications.

In view of chronic acid reflux causing recurrent episodes of sore throat, I suggest you to seek gastroenterologist opinion, if necessary upper gastrointestinal endoscopy procedure to rule out the exact cause of hyperacidity and acid reflux.

Meantime, stop smoking, alcohol and carbonated beverages. Stop consuming junk foods and spicy diet, exercise regularly, keep head elevated position by supporting extra pillows (sleeping posture) and stress free life style. continue nexproplus before food twice daily(half an hour) and xaria plus one tab at bed time.

All the best.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
stop permanetly (tobacco).

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

As such, sub mucosal fibrosis can revert back to normal status after usage of antioxidants +multivitamins treatment.

In resistant cases, Hyaluronidase + hydroscotrisone infiltrations or surgery (z plasty) required.

One month abstinence form tobacco, will not get back normal mucosa. you need to stop permanently and take antioxident +multivitamin combination for 3 months.

GERD (gastro esophageal reflex disease), can be managed with nexproplus and xaria plus for 6-8 weeks followed by regular follow-up with gastro-surgeon (GERD) and ent surgeon ( oral sub mucosal fibrosis). Oral sub mucosal fibrosis is a pre cancerous condition.

All the best. Take care.

Answered by Dr. Abubakar Siddiqh (16 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
infections/sinusitis/gerd/food allergy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Answers for your queries.

1. Able to open the mouth, no burning sensation while eating suggests you are free from oral sub mucosal fibrosis. You need to stop tobacco for life time to avoid complications (oral cancer).

2. Most common causes for sore throat are sinusitis, GERD, food allergy or infections.

In your case, GERD is the primary cause for recurrence. Kindly follow the instructions and continue the treatment combination as I have already mentioned.

Hope, I have answered your queries.

Take care.
