Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Tinnitus

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: I developed tinnitus in January of this year it eased a while after I had my ears syringed. I now have had very slight light headedness, mild headache for about 10 days. I have haemachromatosis and the level is now down to about 250 with venesections. My GP says my problem is probably due to neck issues (arthritis, compaction and possibly B12 deficient which I am having a blood test for). What is your view ?

Brief Answer:
seems to be BPPV(benign paroxymal positional vertigo

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having dizzyness with headache. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is your dizzy spells are episodic or continous ?
Is your dizzy spells associated with change of posture ?

Kindly get back to me with the details,

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be BPPV (benign paroxymal positional vertigo) or fluctuation in blood sugar or BP.

I suggest you to to consult ent surgeon and get detailed ent examination, blood tests (blood sugar, serum electrolytes), audiometry (age related deafness), vestibualr tests (to differentiate central from peripheral (bppv) vertigo), x-ray cervical spine(cervical spondylosis) and BP monitering. If necessary, ct scan of brain(to see age related vascular ischemia). Depending on the examination reports further treatment is required accordingly.

Repeated venesections can also cause dizzyness.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

Hi, I wouldn't really say that I have dizzy spells as such...more a mild headache with a fuzzy feeling in my head which comes and goes. I move my neck a lot to relieve tension which results in sort of cracking noises. I also forgot to mention that I have mild tingling in both hands....not arms, this also comes and goes.

Brief Answer:
seems to be cervical spondylosis.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

Your symptoms are suggestive of cervical spondylosis (crepitus, radiating pain to arm and tingling).

I suggest you to do x-ray cervical spine, wear soft collar and restrict the neck movements.

Hope, I have answered your query.

All the best.Take care.
