Question: My daughter has been battling a skin infection for almost a year with no results of creams given to her by her general physician doctor. It was diagnosed as Scabbies but nothing works to clear it up. Her arms and legs have sores. She has also started losing her hair. Its a ring that runs around her entire head; forehead around ears. It looks like she is shaving her head. Her hair just falls out in bunches and has become very thin. Her doctor thinks she is just plain crazy and takes nothing serious said from her. Her daughter also getting these sores and has scabs on top of her head from scratching as she says it itches. Her daughters doctor has taken sample of her hair and said no infections. Where can we go to find help as to what is going on. The medicine her doctor gives her is 80.00 a tubewhich she has been using since July 2014 an does no good and he is not willing to give her a referral to a demtologist for further diagnose. She is a single mom very limited funds and is on State Medicaid. I'm worried about her and her daughter as it just won't go away and is extremely upsetting to her. She is so upset with how the doctors think she is mental because she is thinking it is bacterial and doing damage to her and her daughters body. Who do we see to seek caring help? Does any of these symptons sound familiar?

Brief Answer:
visit dermatologist

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, welcome to HCM and thanks for choosing us. I share your concerns about your daughter and her long standing illnesses. In my opinion she has fungal and bacterial infections on her skin. You need to get an opinion from dermatologist. You need to anyhow convince her doctor for referral to dermatologist. Her long standing illness with no relief from the given treatment are enough ground for referral. You can request her doctor for this and I hope he agrees for this. This is the only option which will help your daughter as she is suffering for long time now. Physical examination by dermatologist and antifungal, antibacterial medications will help her in recovery. Meanwhile take care of hygiene.

I hope my reply will help you. Please write to us for more questions and follow up queries. I wish rapid recovery to your daughter.
