Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Lump Under The Navel Area

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Nov 2016
Question: My daughter has a lump that comes and goes about the size of a small sausage on her left side under her naval but across the pelvic line. It has been happening periodically and she said there is a little pain and then this small lump appears on the front of her left side near where her ovary would be. She has had blood work and a pap test and they were all normal. She is in good shape and works out every week. She is 45 but is a single mother with Obama care and no specialist will see her without a $900 deductible paid by her. She has already paid over $2000 on Obama care monthly payment plan for this year. Please help!

Brief Answer:
Most proably a Hernia

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query about your daughter.
The lump which ''comes and goes'' is to be considered as hernia unless proved otherwise.
In fact this is the cardinal symptom/sign of a hernia.
This is further characterized by:
Impulse on coughing means if the patient coughs purposefully or does any activity that increases intra-abdominal pressure the hernial will give impulse to the palpating palm.
Reducible: The swelling can be returned to abdomen either on laying down, or by pushing in slightly.

I would advise her the following:
To get a confirmed diagnosis and get a plan for further management a per the confirmed diagnosis.

I hope this answer helps.
