Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Cold And Fever

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jul 2015
Question: I've had Flu and Bronchitis around February or March of this year. I recovered from it in about three weeks. But since then I have been suffering from cold/fever about every month. I fell sick for about 4 times in the past 4 months. Recently I was referred to an ENT specialist by a general physician as he thought that it might something related to allergies. But the new ENT doctor wouldn't let me know what my problem could be. She suggested me to use Montek LC and I've been using it for the past 1.5 weeks. She wrote me a nasal spray (Fluticone) and asked me to use it for a month. What could my problem be? Should I be worried that I am falling sick more often? Please suggest me if I should refer to a particular specialty and/or need to get check ups

Brief Answer:
You should continue montek LC and nasal spray.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Possibility of allergic rhinitis is more in your case.
Montek LC is having montelukast and levocetrizine. Montelukast is anti allergic drug. Levocetrizine is antihistamine drug.
Both are useful in rhinitis.
Fluticasone nasal spray is also beneficial in such condition.
So you should continue this tablet and nasal spray for atleast 1 month. If you are improving than these can be tapered off.
Another point is recurrent viral infection.
So better to take Influenza vaccine to prevent recurrent viral infection.
Discuss about Influenza vaccine to your doctor and get it once you are stabilize with your symptoms.
So, no need to worry much for these. And no need to consult other doctors. Continue your treatment and discuss about Influenza vaccine on follow up.
Please let me know
1. Do you have any kind of allergies?
2. Did you have similar symptoms in past?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
