default
Posted on Mon, 3 Apr 2017
Question: My baby is a month old now, and since last few days she has developed heat rashes on her face. Could yo suggest any cream which can be applied without fear of any side effects or any home remedy ?

She is not dressed overly, mostly is covered in a single cloth.

Brief Answer:
Not a cause for concern.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Let me assure you that for children upto 3 months of age it is normal to get rashes on the skin. It is called erythema toxicum. Unlike the name, it is absolutely harmless and needs no intervention and is not a cause for concern. Sometimes some white dots called milia can also be present along. They too are not a cause for concern and are caused due to deposition of dead cells under the skin.

They are not due to allergic cause or heat rashes. No intervention needed. You can however use some moisturizer like aloe vera lotion.

Feel free to write back.

Thanks doctor, I plan to apply aloe Vera or sandalwood on her skin as a remedy. Hope it makes sense ?

Brief Answer:
Use aloe vera lotion

Detailed Answer:
You can apply aloe vera or sandal paste on her skin. These are good but having opposite effects. While aloe vera moistens the skin, sandalwood paste makes the skin dry. So, I would not suggest the latter.

In any case, these are not going to act as remedies for a condition that is normal in any case.
