Question: I traveled out of state this past March and spent a week in a motel...when I came home --I became extremely tired...and became very itchy in my vaginal area...I thought I had picked up an STD such as herpes through sitting on a toilet...I developed a rash on the sides of my legs and when I touched the areas, it felt very warm and hot...I used a lot of natural homeopathic creams and I also had a red rash under my breast...everything cleared up, but an area on the lip of my vagina, which I recently came to believe and I am almost positive is ringworm...I am very sensitive to medications...but I got some oral medicine for the fungus...the red area cleared up under my breast...the medicine seemed to help my condition, but I cannot take the medicine every day...it just makes me not feel well...I would like a cream to put on the area...that is vaginal, can you suggest somethiing that I could use...the oral medication that I used works, but for long term such as week or two or a month, I am just too sensitive to it....what do you suggest that I do? Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM
Thanks for posting your query.

Itching in Genital Herpes is not so common.

Genital itching in a female the most common are Yeast infection or Ring worm infestation. Both belong to fungal infections. So the treatment is more or less same.
Ring worm infection is more common with Toilet seat contact.
You had not mentioned anything about sexual activity.
Consult your doctor to confirm the diagnosis with examination and investigations.
He/she will help you with medicine that ensures a total cure. Both topical like clotrimazole and oral anti-fungal antibiotics might be necessary in adequate dosage and for a duration of not less than 3-4 weeks. You will be alright. Always try to abstain from sharing your clothes, towel, soaps etc.with others.
Avoid excessive sweating and bathing in pools.
