Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: I woke up this morning with a rash from my abdomen down to ankles little red spots size of pin heads. No itching or burning except for private area. I was also very nervous this morning and the red spots had white spots around them, they have passed but the little red spots are still visible. I am using Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP 0.1% from the pharmacist. Any ideas?

He took a magnifying and said it looked like bug bites?

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

Sudden onset of red rash is likely to be due to urticaria. Urticaria usually occurs as allergic reaction especially to bites. The clinical photograph provided by you is not very clear and it ould be difficult for me to comment on it.
Your pharmacist has rightly prescribed the steroid ointment and antihistamine. As there is no associated itching or other significant symptom there seems to be n cause for concern.

I would suggest you the following

1. Continue the medication

2. Preferably wear only cotton undergarments

3. Do you have any rash or discharge from private area? is there any rash?

4. Providing clear clinical photograph will be very helpful

Awaiting your response

Brief Answer:
It is folliculitis

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms

Thanks for providing clinical photograph. Following shaving with razor you have developed mild infection of hair follicles. It usually occurs due to colonization with bacteria following shaving.
I woukld suggest you the following

1. Local application of combination of steroid and antibiotic ointment will be helpful

2. During night kindly apply moisturizing cream

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance

Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life
