Suggest Treatment For Rash On The Breast

default
Posted on Thu, 6 Aug 2015
Question: My sister whi is 75 has had a breast rash on the bottom part of her breast for almost 2 years. We have treated it with many different topical ointment, oils, etc and changed her bra from a cotton sports bra to a regular light weight bra. It looks like echema, and get better, but won't go away. She has heavy breasts, so I am thinking it is moisture that is causing the rash. She has had a biopsy for IBC, and it is not that.
What other recommendations do you have? and what might this be?

Brief Answer:
fungal infection of skin is most likely possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query.
I understand your concern.
As per details, the most likely possibility for the symptoms you mentioned is a condition of skin called Tinea cruris. It is fungal infection of skin involving the folds of body. It is characterised by itchy red colored or hyperpigmented rash over the affected area.
Yhe predisposing factors for fungal infection are Diabetes Mellitus, excess sweating, hot humid weather.
I will advise you to get her blood sugar levels done.
In such cases, I prefer to advise topical antifungals like clotrimazole dusting powder and oral fluconazole / terbinafine / itraconazole.
Antihistaminics like levocetrizine also help for symptomatic relief.
Visit your doctor so that he can examine her and give prescription.
You can share my opinion with him.
I hope it helps.
Take care.
