Question: My wife occasionally gets boils on skin with puss filled inside it. She presses and deflates the boil till puss completely drains out.
1. Why do boils occur on the skin, frequently, any causes?
2. What is the best remedy to prevent boils to occur in future.
3. Currently she has a large boil which was deflated yesterday, a lot of puss came out, now the skin has a small hole, we applied bandaid,

It is due to hidden infection inside the body.

Hi
I saw many patients with recurrent boils.
1.Boils occur frequently due to hidden infection somewhere in the body like Nasal cavity,Anal opening etc.
2.There is no specific treatment to prevent boils in future. But,you can prevent them to some extent by maintaining good hygiene.
3.You should apply Antibiotic ointment containing Povidone iodine to the area and apply bandage.
Do not apply Turmeric.
Usually, I send the pus for Culture and Sensitivity test.Once the report comes,I will prescribe appropriate Antibiotic.
In one patient, I prescribed Cefuroxime tablet 500mg twice daily for 1 week and the symptoms didn't recur.
Please consult your doctor, get Culture and Sensitivity test.
