Suggest Treatment For Pulsating Sensation In Left Frontal Side Of Brain

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Sep 2015
Question: I have a pulsating sensation in the left frontal side of my brain (skull), a change in heart-rhythm (in the sense of more beating 'sometimes', but so that u notice the difference over a day), and absolutely no appetite. all this after an emotional trauma, not physical trauma to the head. so not sure what to believe. also experienced difference in identity, partial loss in connection to familiar emotions (such as music, reading, every cognitive function isnt as intense as it was, my reading-ability has gone down severely. before I cd finish a book, 300 pages, in one or two days, now in a week), interests, and so on. my motivation simply isnt there, I still do it, but I have no 'help' from the brain. still think roughly the same, think intelligence is the same, but the emotional connection just isnt there, and the overall mental drive towards a goal). male, 23, non-medicated, intellectual. I dont see how a psychiatric evaluation wd help, since I look at this purely physically. yes, it was caused by emotional trauma, but the effect is physical. a classical case of hysteria or whatnot, well, cant see how that wd help either, diagnosis-wise. I have provided a psychologist with a very detailed account but fruitlessly.

emotional trauma about two-three months ago.

head feels a bit strained also and full, a bit swollen almost.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be depression , get consultation with psychiatrist

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You surely are under great stress at this point of time.
The cause may be emotional trauma. But you are also having features suggestive of depression with loss of interest, appetite and concentration.
Your consultation with psychologist has been not successful.
I will advice you to get some metabolic test like vitamin B12, thyroid profile.
You can consult a psychiatrist who can help you with counselling and medications both.
I usually prescribe selective serotonin repute inhibitors(SSRI) like sertraline, escitalopram, fluoxetine or from serotonin norepinephrine repute inhibitors(SNRI) like duloxetine, desvenlafaxine.
You can get in touch with psychiatrist to get one of these medications started under supervision along with counselling support.
You will get out of this situation soon.
It's not a problem which can not be handled and usually treated well.
Everyone get some stress in his life and tides over the situation with time.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
Do get back with further queries.
