Question: Hello and thank you for your previous answer. If you still have access to that email? You had called it pulsatile tinnitus. Following up my husband did have an MRI and all looked good. So his symptoms are still unexplained but he has been referred to a neurologist. This has been going on since February. He has been stressed at work but it seems like a long time and while his headaches have improved he still has the throbbing. Any thing else we should be asking about when we see the neurologist? Is it possible this could be causes by his cholesterol med. Simvastatin? He has been on it for several years already

Brief Answer:
Statins may cause tinnitus as a side effect.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again and thanks for asking me directly.

Glad to hear that MRI resulted normal.

The answer to your question is straightforward yes, statins ( including simvastatin ) may cause tinnitus as a side effect.

It is okay to consult with a Neurologist and to discuss about headaches that are now clearly not related to any brain problems (primary headaches).

Hope I helped you.

Best regards.
