Suggest Treatment For Pulled Muscle And Shocking Sensation In The Heart Area

Question: Hello.
I am a 57 year old male, 5'- 9 1/2" tall and about 170lbs. I stay active, cycle about 80 miles per week and I do short work outs every morning - sit ups, push ups and some weights. I stay away from greasy foods and fried foods, may be once every two weeks - sometimes none in a month. Well, I had a sort of shocking sensation (sharp) from my heart area to the left side of my neck - it was sharp, that I actually had to touch that area, but the sensation was not the type that makes you bend or stop what your doing. Just want to know what causes this sensation?

Brief Answer:
Muscle pull or cervical spondylitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome.
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
The character of pain you are telling is mostly from a muscle pull or due to cervical spondylitis.
Still we always rule out cardiac causes. So i will recommend you for a stress echo to rule out the cardiac cause of chest pain. Also check your Vitamin D3 level.
Thanks & take care
