Suggest Treatment For Psychosis, Body Tremors And Paranoia
Question: Hi My daughter in law is mstaying with me she is having a psycosis epersode, her Dr has put her on Ativan last monday half of 1mg twice a day which got increased to 1mg twice a day yesterday the 12th i had to give her , her night time tablet at 8pm last night ,,voilent shaking , Paranoia, went to sleep at 11pm woke at 4,30 am uncontroled shaking , asking same questions over & over insecureities , gave her 1mg tablet at 5am she has gone to sleep at 6am ,, why isnt the tablet lasting she knows who we are , where she is but seems to be in the past mainly worring about ,weight , being put in a nursing home & such we are teying to keep her at home rather than hospitalise her she also has serable Palsy hasnt had an event in 3 yrs she is nealy 50 generly quite , please advise XXXXXXX

While Ativan can provide some calmness to anxiety, if your daughter is having a psychotic episode, an anti anxiety medicine will not help her adequately. She needs an antipsychotic medication. Symptoms of hallucinations (seeing things or hearing voices that are not the) or delusions (a thought that is not matching reality) are typical of psychoses. Paranoia can go along with that, but psychoses is delusions or hallucinations.
I suggest you talk with her doctor to discuss treatment of the psychotic symptoms.
I am also wondering about the Prednisolone. This is a corticosteroid and can cause psychotic symptoms in sensitive individuals. Is this a new medication for her? Because if it is, I would be suspicious of it causing the current problem.

I Appreciate your help . i gave you wrong med's she is on Risperodone not Prednisalone Been on Risperodone for 5yrs ,. I took her to the Dr 's who wrote a findings referal , than i presented it at the hospital who put her on Seroquel 25-50 prn and advised us to get a pschiatrist for review of med's
which we will do thant you so much can we expect any more medical events (Psychoses) to happen & will this medication help her ??? xxxxxxxxx
