Suggest Treatment For Prostatitis And Frequent Urination

default
Posted on Fri, 13 Mar 2015
Question: My 23-year-old son has had a few episodes of prostatitis over the last year. He was most recently treated on December 27th with Levaquin. The problem -frequent urination- is happening again. On top of that, he had a strange looking mole on his left testes that was biopsied today at a dermatologist's office and deemed suspicious. Am I wrong to think that the two problems could be connected? Our regular internist is on vacation, and I'd like to know how much sleep to lose over this ( sort of kidding). Thank you! Have made an appt. with a urologist for him, but he can't get in until March 7th. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Needs further test to be carried out to arrive at diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your 23 years old son has been treated for Prostatitis.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on his problem.
1) Does he have unprotected sexual intercourse with unknown woman?
2) Does he have pain in perineum.?

He needs to get following tests done to arrive at conclusion and diagnosis.
1) Routine Urine test and urine culture
2) Semen examination and semen culture
3) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis
4) Trans Rectal Ultrasound Scanning (TRUS)

In the meanwhile give him broad spectrum antibiotic like Cefexine along with anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily.

Please consult qualified Urologist with results of these tests ,Further treatment will be decided by him based on reports of these tests and final diagnosis.

As regards mole on his scrotum which has been sent for histopathological examination could be a simple Sebaceous cyst .Wait for report to come ..

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
