Suggest Treatment For Pressure Sensation In The Ears And Watery Eyes

Posted on Thu, 2 Mar 2017
Question: I have been having a lot of allergy reactions lately. Itchy watery eyes. In addition to Claritin My MD has prescribed antihistamine eye drops and prednisone dose packs two times In the last month. My eyes are feeling better now but now my ears are stopped up. I feel like I am under water. I thought I might have some water in my ears and tried some swim ear, but that did not relieve the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Consideration

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing persistent congestion related to your ears.

I do have a couple of thoughts. One thing that you can try that can sometimes really help alleviate some of that pressure would be to use one of the over-the-counter nasal Cortizone spray there are a few different brands including Flonase or Nasonex. I generally have patients put one spray in each nostril twice daily. It will usually take about 10 to 14 days for the nasal spray to get to it for 30 potential. I feel that and the Cortizone spray continues to work it should help to relieve pressure that built behind your ears.l

you could also try taking some Benadryl at low doses once or twice per day to help decrease the fluid buildup as well.

As always we recommend good fluid hydration. I recommend that you limit your consumption of dairy products and sugary foods as well as these can't contribute to increased in thickness of secretions in the knees on sinus passage ways.

Thank you again for sending your question.

Sincerely,
