Question: I have white stuff on my tonsils and it hurts.
Not strep throat. According to the swab i had at urgent care. What could it be.

White membrane over tonsils could be due to many reasons. If there is associated pain and difficulty in swallowing then possibility of oral thrush needs to be considered. If you are smoker, then there could be white membrane over the tonsil which is usually painless. Exact diagnosis will however depend on good clinical examination and detailed history.
It would be very helpful if you could provide me following additional information
1. Kindly let me know the details of your symptoms and duration you been experiencing
2. Are you a smoker?
3. Are you diabetic or on any steroid medication ( including inhalation)
4. Did you have preceding history of fever and sore throat few weeks back ?
5. Providing clinical photograph along with the above info will be very helpful
