Suggest Treatment For Presence Of Bumps On The Elbows

Question: Hi Doc.
When i tighten my arms, i notice a bump formed on both my upper elbows. When i don't flex it, there is no bump. When i touch the bump it doesnt feel hard or lumpish. What could it be ?

The bump appears only when i flex. It is not painful. It hasnt affected any functioning of my arm.

I don't even know if they can be called lumps. When I leave my hands down or don't tighten or flex, There is no bulge. It's only when I flex, there is a slight bulge. I seem to be having them for as long as I remember but since a friend at the gym said the bulge could be subcutaneous fat, thought I will get it checked. I don't have any numbness or discolouration over the bulge.

Thanks for the information.

Such swellings could either be a lipoma or a neurofibroma. If the size of the swelling is less than 2 cms and is firm it could be a neurofibroma. If bigger and soft it is lipoma.

Both swelling are not serious and do not cause any problems. If grow bigger, must be excised surgically.
