Suggest Treatment For Precancerous Condition Of Cervix

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Sep 2014
Question: Hi Dr. Grief, My name is XXXXXXX Rushing and I live in XXXXXXX XXXXXXX On or about July 7, 2014, I was diagnosed with precancer of the cervix. On Dec. 3, 2013 I had a routine pap test which returned a report of
"Epithelial Cell Abnormality , Atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance".. I was told that my pap
test was normal. Therefore, I just relaxed until I went to a gyn who found the spot. He did a biopsy which came back as this read. He wants to do a larger biopsy of the same area. I have an appointment with a gyn/oncologist for a second opinion and a follow up. My question to you is, " Can you give me any information on this subject to give me some direction to go with this problem?" I have been reading up on several websites and I am just making myself more upset because I do not understand what this means and what needs to be done to prevent it from becoming full fledged cancer of the cervix.
Thank you for any help you can offer for me. XXXXXXX Rushing

Brief Answer:
Precancerous condition

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I went through your query and understood your concerns.

Abnormal epithelial cells are intial changes which later on turn to malignancy if not addressed them.

Any loss in regularity of arrangement of cells or shape of cells or structure of cells are known as abnormal cells. These cells have potential to go for malignancy.

Malignant cells have capacity to divide uncontrollably and spread to other parts in body affecting other organs function.

So better to get confirm your condition with one more biopsy and treated for it.
Not to worry your condition has been detected in earliest stage which has very good outcome.

Depending on extent of lesion we can go for excision of that part of cervix, or we can do ablation of that part which destroys those abnormal cells.

Hope I answered your query. Feel free to ask further related query.

Regards
