Suggest Treatment For Planter Warts On Foot And Wrist

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Jun 2015
Question: Good morning Dr.,
My 15 year old daughter has planter warts on her foot and one by her wrist. She was treated by a dermatologist - I believe she would use freeze them . Unfortunately, we did not follow up due to the distance to her location and the warts are back and have spread. I have a number of podiatrists here in town - does it matter whether we see a podiatrist or a dermatologist? Also, is there any danger in having the warts?
thank you

Btw, she was referred to see the dermatologist by her primary...thank you

Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The best thing would be to consult a dermatologist ,since warts are a skin condition and dermatologist are well trained to treat such conditions.
If you don't have a dermatologist in town , you can take her to a podiatrist because they are trained to diagnose and treat every condition of foot ,including skin problems like warts. They see and treat every day a lot of cases with warts.
So both are well qualified to treat warts on feet.

You don't need to worry.Warts are not a serious or dangerous problem.Usually they can go away on they own after some time without treatment but when they cause discomfort and are multiple, they may require treatment.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any question.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati
