Suggest Treatment For Pinched Nerve In The Neck

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Apr 2017
Question: I've had numbness in my right hand, mostly my fingers..in the thumb, index, and middle fingers for greater than a week now. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome a while back. Also, I currently have a pinched nerve in my neck and shoulder causing pain down my right arm and numbness in my right hand. But, the numbness was intermittent. Recently, the numbness has been constant with no relief from medications. For the past two days, though, my three fingers have become very swollen and the skin feels tight. Pulses are still present and no discoloration to the skin yet. Causing a great deal of pain, as well.
Also, I've had Lyme's Disease in the past and it was treated with antibiotics. Not sure, but may have removed a tick from a mole yesterday. Also, I have a wound on my leg that appears to be "parasitic" looking.
I'm not sure which of the conditions I have listed above could be causing this hand numbness, severe swelling and increased pain. Please advise
Thanks,
XXXX

Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause these hand symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist, here to answer your query.

'Carpal tunnel syndrome'(CTS) can very well be the cause of your hand symptoms. CTS is known to cause more symptoms(numbness, tightness, tingling) in first 2 or 3 fingers.

Are you using Wrist splintage along with medicines. If not, it must be used as 'wrist splintage' is the mainstay of treatment.Another important thing, is to avoid your hands doing intense physical activity.

A sample prescription which can help is-
Tab Flupirtine 100 mg BD
Tab Pregabalin-M twice a day
Tab Duloxetine 30 mg once a day

PLEASE TAKE MEDICINES UNDER GUIDANCE OF A PHYSICIAN ONLY.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.

Dr.Ajay Panwar,
