Question: Hi.. Last Wednesday(12/03) , when I got in the morning..I felt something is touching my tongue and bit uneasiness while eating. I though it is regular sore throat issue. But I waited for few days.Friday evening I just opened by mouth and looked inside and I could see that small part which will be hanging just above throat hole is bit longer in length and I could realize that it is what touching my tongue. It is bit red in color and big bulged. Next thing I observed it that white color substance was there near to it. I thought i was some food got stuck. Next day I visited ENT doctor , He said it is GRANULAR pharyngitis WITH KRETORS. He said it might come becuase of some food habit changes and bacteria e.t.c. This the medicine given to DOXY - 1 (100MG) - AFTER LUNCH - 6 DAYS TOLPA - MOR/LUN/DIN - 3 DAYS I will be completing above course by tomorrow night. Today I just checked at my mouth again. I could see that what I ever I said above bit bulged seems to reduced. But I could see one more white color now along with previous one. Just wanted to 1. Am I going through right medicine ? 2. My medicine is going to get complete , Planning to visit doctor again .. do u think I'm visiting right doctor based on above medicine ? 3. Only thing I could think of change in food habit is I ate brinjal which is usually I don't eat as my doctor said I get cough easily because of that , so usually I don't eat brinjal in winter and I jst started eating now as summer is started , can this cause this issue ? 4. One more white color area I have seen today , does that mean it is reducing or increasing ? 5. Apart from medicine , what else I can do to recovery fast ?

Brief Answer: A new patch means infection is still there. Detailed Answer: hi XXXXXXX For pharyngitis, you can visit a ENT specialist or a physician. Doxy is a good drug, but for pharyngitis, it is not the best. In general, even if you use no antibiotics, it will recede by its own; antibiotics only speed up recovery and reduce complications like sinusitis. pharyngitis generally occurs due to contaminated water or food. generally, drinking cool drinks, junk drinks, loose water outside or street foods cause this. Extreme exposures to air conditioners, poorly maintained coolers can also push bacteria into your throat. I believe your brinjal is ignorant, because if you are allergic to it, you develop ulcers over tongue and pharynx, not white spots. A new patch means infection is still there. If you feel it is increasing, you may try Tab Azithromycin 500 once a day for 3 days. you may take hot water sips for symptom relief. hope this helped.
