Suggest Treatment For Persistent Vomiting After Eating Food
Question: Hi.
Yesterday i had dinner at 1 am late night from an XXXXXXX hotel, ivtook flight at 4 am and reached destinaation at 5 30 am and as i reached airport i had very strong feeling of vomit , i vomited 5 times. I came to accomodation and slept and after waking up i drank 400 ml of water and again all that water after 20 mins i vomited . What i must do now ?

Hi,
Most likely it's due to disturbed gastro intestinal flora because of food poisoning .Infectious organisms or their toxins can contaminate food at any point of processing or production.Rcent stay in hotel is suggestive of possible exposure to Contamination.Our gut consists of its own environment of micro organism called gut flora(Good bacterias).They are responsible for proper digestion of food.Once this flora is depleted by toxins released by bacteria causes symptoms like bloating belching vomiting loose stools etc.
Most likely its bacterial in your case,A short term course of Tablet ciprofloxacin 500mg twice daily along with Secnidazole 1 gram daily should be taken.
Apart from that would suggest you to take a good probiotic for 3 days. This will help the good bacteria's to replenish again. Once the flora is replenished intestinal motility and secretions will be improved. Tablet Neksium 40mg along with Domperidome 30mg can be taken along with it to provide relief in nausea and vomiting.Drink a lot of fluid and electrolytes to replenish the level in blood as sodium and potassium is lost in vomiting.
Most of the time food poisoning is self limiting and takes 3-5 days to settle down.In case symptoms are not relieved in two doses,Visit the nearest emergency get a ultrasound abdomen done,And get antibiotic intravenous shots.
