Question: My 8 year old daughter has been complaining her stomach hurts in and off for 7 days now. 3 days ago she had diarrhea all day. The following day her stool was solid again but she has be going to the bathroom and abnormal amount of times a day. 6 or 7 times. Tonight before bed she went and I checked her stool and it had white fuzzy stuff all around it and some red at the bottom of the toilet. Still complaining on and off about stomach pain.

Brief Answer:
A step by step approach needs to be taken.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HelathcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Your daughter probably has contracted a gastrointestinal infection. Most often such infections are self limiting but in case of dysentery or bloody stools treatment with antibiotics is necessary. I have checked the image and it seems to be blood tinged. In that case my suggestions for you would be:
* Give ORS (oral rehydration solution) to make up for the lost water and salts.
* Get her stool tested for routine microscopy and occult blood. I am looking specifically for the pus cell count as well as the presence of undigested matter apart from the confirmation on presence of blood.
* Give Lanzol Junior tablet (lansoprazole) once daily in empty stomach.
* Give some antispasmodic like Decolic (dicyclomine) when required (after consulting your doctor)
* Get a complete blood count done.

Depending of the findings it can be suggested whether antibiotics are needed.

I would await your response.

Regards
