Suggest Treatment For Persistent Lower Back Pain

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Dec 2016
Question: two weeks ago (on a Monday)I was at work and having some crackers at lunch and realized I couldn't really eat. I wondered, as I seemed a bit tired, if I was coming down with something . So by the time I picked up my two kids and got home i was feeling achey and feverish and thought maybe I had a 24 hour bug or something, BUT my lower right back was hurting . Seemed to low to be my kidneys, but it hurt so badly I could not even lift my daughter nad I had a fever. I spent the night iwth significant back ache (same lower right back spot) and was sweating all night. So by 5AM my fever seemed gone and I went to work, but since then, my lower back pain has been there.
I went a week later to an urgent care and they tested my uring (mind you I ALWAYS have to urinate frequently) but felt it had been worse recently.
So now, two weeks after initial sickness, I still have this back pain and I dont think it is muscular . I was given an antibiotic for possible urinary trac infection but I finished it yesterday and my back still hurts.
The only thing I have noticed in recent weeks (and I am EMBARASSED to share this) is that my feces is much thinner than usual most of the time when I go to the bathroom. Like longer nad thinner. (Again, sorry to overshare)
Do you have any thoughts as to what this can be. I am tired in general, but my back really hurts.
Like a 3 to 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 and some nights, as it seems worse at night, it is worse.
Also, sometimes my hip on the same side hurts .

Brief Answer:
Renal stones or Primary pyomyositis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting the query to HCM.

I have gone through your query in detail. As you have a urinary complains it might be renal stones which is not relieved by antibiotic therapy. Ultra sonogram will rule this out.

And the another diagnosis which is really rear but slight common in female of your age group. And having similar complains is Primary pyomyositis. though rarely seen in united states. i just want you to rule this out in a early stage. Cause if diagnosed early the treatment is very simple and cure rate is 100%. It is diagnosed by MRI scan.

Nothing worry about your stools. That is completely normal. The consistency in stools could be due to your antibiotics or more fluid intake or any other dietary changes. This doesn't have any relation with your back pain.

I suggest you to consult a physician and ask about the above mentioned conditions. And rule it out at the earliest possible.

Any query do follow up.

Take care.

The change in feces happene before the medicine and i dont drink a good amount of water. What is that conditn that youwrote about?.
And it cant be stones because the oain has not moved. Pain with stones moves with the stones
Could you provide more detail.

Brief Answer:
below is the detailed description.

Detailed Answer:
The Stools hard or being watery or difference in consistency is very normal. It happens for every one. Until Not associated with more than 4 to 5 times motions per day. Or any change in color like associated with blood or very pale.

Renal stone pain is mostly radiating to wards abdomen. But in some cases the pain is at one point also.

The other condition i told was Pyomyositis. ie. infection of the back muscles. It is very rare but the symptoms of this condition correlates with your history. Like pain in the back with Fever, and no history of any injury.

These are some possible conditions which have the symptoms of your condition.
It is better ruled out at the earliest.

Take care.
