Posted on Wed, 3 Aug 2016
Question: Hi Doctor,

My father in law was having cough and sputum two months back. He had taken Augmentin 625 and allegra M. He had some relief after that but, he is having fever since last month. It is not continuous. In the morning, body temperature is normal but fever comes in the evening around 99.2

He is having a little sore throat currently as well.

He had undergone many tests till now. I am attaching all the prescriptions and tests done till now. Please advise what could be the probable cause for this.

Regards,

Brief Answer:
need further investigations as well as clinical evaluation..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HCM..

I've gone through query and understand your concern for your Father in law..

Yes I've gone through all the reports and most of them are within normal range only..

However on the basis of the history and the investigations (starting from the initial diagnosis of allergic bronchitis), I must let you know that so far none of these investigations are really well directed, in other words, he (your father in law) needs to be checked up clinically in details by a proper specialist(which was missing in all those cases, microbiologist, gen surgeon are not really relevant in this case) then only decide about relevant investigations accordingly (all these investigations are not well directed thus not yielding diagnosis)..

The temperature that you've mentioned also hardly any Fever (you should note that Core body temperature of 100 Degree Fahrenheit or more is Fever)..

So in summary, all those low grade feverish feelings, sore throat are just symptoms which is needed to be evaluated in details..

I suggest you to make an appointment with a Pulmonologist for a complete physical examination and investigations accordingly..treatment is dependent on the findings so let's just concentrate on the proper diagnosis of the ailment at first..

I'v tried to make it as simple as possible for you to understand, let me know if anything's not clear, i'll be glad to clarify..

Take Care
Kind Regards
