Question: I have had diarrhea for one week now. Tonight I was unable to make it to the bathroom in time. I have had several stresses in the past week and wondering if this could be the cause.

Brief Answer:
Might be gastroenteritis, mostly viral , requires symptomatic treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query.
I would like to know few more information like
How many episodes of diarrhoea? How is the consistency?
Is there any nausea and vomiting?
Did you take outside food?

Stress can cause diarrhoea, but not to such an extent.
Based on the information I feel you have gastroenteritis.
You do not need antibiotic. You can take Racecadotril, which is anti diarrhoeal agent.

I would suggest you to drink plenty of water or electrolyte solutions to prevent dehydration.

Add bland foods to your diet, such as bananas, toast, oatmeal and rice in small amounts every couple of hours. Avoid spicy food. Restrict meat for few days.

You can take curd which will be beneficial.
Probiotics like Sporolac or Ecobion will be beneficial.
In case if your symptoms persist, I would suggest you to go for stool examination and do consult physician.

Hope this helps
Take care.
