Question: I have had bronchitis and I think slight pneumonia for like 2 years and it keeps coming back. They kept giving me z-pack but it does not work. It makes me feel better but within like a week or two the same heavy hard to breath feeling comes back. my symptoms is like hard to breath and get winded easily, cough, light white/green flem from bronchials/lungs, just a felling of like a light weight on my lungs/chest. Just very frustrating. I use to walk 2 to 4 miles a day 2 years ago. I get winded real easily now. And as soon as I get any virus it goes right to my lungs/bronchials. I tried to get dr to give an antibiotic that worked for me before - I think it was ceftin!

Brief Answer:
Have you ever undergone PFT?

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are still having bronchitis.
Your all symptoms like shortness of breath, cough with phlegm etc are suggestive of chronic bronchitis.
Diagnosis and severity of chronic bronchitis is determined by PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
So first get done PFT.
On the basis of this, you may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
So please let me know
1. Do you smoke?
2. Have you ever undergone PFT?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I do not smoke, drink or do drugs. I do not think I have had the PFT test.
they did have me blow into a tube and I tested a little low and then they gave me a breathing treatment for like what they give asthma patients. I have never had asthma either. The treatment did not do much.

Brief Answer:
What is the name of the inhaler?

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
The test you are talking about is mostly PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
And it showed lower value so possibility of bronchitis is more in your case.
Inhaled treatment is the best treatment for bronchitis.
For this, you need long acting drugs which give control for 12 hours.
So please let me know, which inhaler you are using?
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Sorry to say but for prescription you need to consult doctor locally.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.

A prescription is considered unethical without a physcial examination. Therefore it is not valid if I write prescription from this forum.

For prescription, you need to consult local doctor and get a written prescription.
Albuterol is short acting beta 2 agonist. It is not ideal for long term control.
You should start long acting beta 2 agonist (LABA - salmeterol or formoterol) and long acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA - tiotropium).
With regular use of these drugs, you will definitely improve.

You should also take adult Pulmonary vaccination like pneumococcal and Influenza vaccines. These will prevent recurrent respiratory tract infection.
So in my opinion, you should consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
You will definitely improve.
